About the choir:

The Prince Albert Children’s Choir (PACC) is a treble voice choir open to all children who love to sing ages 6 - 18. Re-established in 2007 by Megan Mewis Fournier and Monica Corcoran, it is a continuation of the youth choral tradition that has been alive in Prince Albert for over 60 years.

The PACC is dividing into two age groups;
Preparatory Choir: 6-10 years
Prince Albert Youth Honour Choir: 10 +

Affordable Music lessons: Fee start at $30 a month. The children in the PACC receive a music education as well as vocal training. This training is both as a choir and occasionally on an individual basis to help the child find their own voice and fulfill their own potential.

The Music: A variety of genres including Broadway, Disney, Pop, Classical and Folk. Solo opportunities exist depending on the music selections for that season.

Benefits: Studies have shown that young people who sing in choirs…
· Develop personal confidence and healthy self-esteem.
· Develop improved listening skills.
· If they stutterer or have a speech impediment it is not apparent when singing.
· If ESL(English as a second language), learn the language faster.
· Have better posture and body alignment.
· Learn to breathe properly.
· Do better in their school studies, especially in mathematics.
· Make lasting and wholesome friendships.
· Develop music skills which will be used throughout their lives.

Rehearsals: Wednesday nights Sept till end of May. Preparatory Choir – 5:45 – 6:15 Concert Choir – 6:30 – 7:30 Location Ecole St Anne’s School.

Megan Mewis Fournier - BIO

Megan is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan Music department, with a bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. While at the U of S, she was a member of the Greystone Singers, the U of S Musical Theatre Ensemble, the Saskatoon Opera Association and was a section leader for the sopranos and altos of the University Chorus.

After graduating, Megan moved to Cardiff Wales, United Kingdom for three years where she continued her opera training, sang with the BBC Welsh National Choir and performed in various venues gaining her recognition on BBC Radio One and BBC Channel One. In between performances and training, Megan backpacked through Western Europe with a voice trio, busking Canadian folk songs on Europe’s city streets.

Upon her return to Prince Albert, she opened her own voice studio and is currently the artistic director of the Prince Albert Children’s Choir, carrying on her grandmother, Margo Fournier’s, legacy.

UNIFORM

Choristers will be supplied with a either a vest performance shirt. Choristers must wear the following with the performance shirt,
· Black Pants - must be solid black and therefore may not have any visible logos, stripes, decor, jewels, etc.
· Black Dress Shoes - must be close toed (no sandals or sling backs). Solid black with no visible logos, stripes, decor, jewels, or coloured laces

We are thrilled that you are considering joining the Prince Albert Children’s Choir. You will certainly find the PACC to be a wonderful, musical, educational, and social experience for all children who love to sing.

Registration:
Cost: Prep Choir (age 6-10) $30 a month ($15 for Sept)
Concert Choir (10-and up) $35 a Month. ($15 for Sept)
Uniform fee: $15
If more than one family member is registered, there is a $5 a month discount per child.

***Payments accepted as a lump payment for the half year or full year at the first rehearsal.
